Pacemaker PH5387 headers (extractors) are designed for Holden Commodore VE and VF and applicable WM and WN Statesman/Caprice models fitted with selected 6.0L and 6.2L V8 engines.
PH5387 uses Pacemaker's Tri-Y design with 44mm (1¾") primary pipes, 48mm (1⅞") secondary pipes and 76mm (3") outlets. The staged Tri-Y configuration is designed to provide strong exhaust scavenging and a broad spread of performance through the road-driving rpm range.
Pacemaker lists PH5387 for 6.0L Gen IV, 6.0L LS2 and 6.2L LS3 V8 applications. These headers suit both manual and automatic transmissions and provide power steering, air conditioning and oxygen sensor compatibility.
IMPORTANT – PH5387 requires aftermarket catalytic converters. It does not connect directly to the original factory catalytic converters.
Does NOT suit HSV models fitted with the supercharged LSA engine.
Please check availability and current lead time before ordering.
Pacemaker PH5387 uses a Tri-Y configuration where the primary pipes merge in stages through the secondary pipes before entering the collector. This differs from the 4-into-1 configuration used by Pacemaker PH5381 and PH5382.
The standard Pacemaker finish uses the distinctive Pacemaker Blue heat-resistant coating, designed to withstand temperatures up to approximately 800°C.
Ceramic Coating: PHC40 ceramic coating may be available for improved heat management and corrosion resistance. Please contact Best Mufflers for current availability.
DSF138: Replacement cylinder-head exhaust gaskets are available separately.
PEX5367Z: Pacemaker specifies one VZ oxygen sensor wiring loom extension for installation.
Pacemaker High-Flow Catalytic Converters: PH5387 requires aftermarket catalytic converters. Pacemaker lists CAT5380-100L/R for a 2½" exhaust connection and CAT5387-100L/R for a 3" exhaust connection.
PH5387 does NOT suit HSV models fitted with the supercharged 6.2L LSA engine.
VE Commodore: Applicable Holden 6.0L Gen IV V8 applications include engines such as L98, L76 and L77, depending on model, transmission and production date.
VF Commodore: Early VF V8 models continued with the 6.0L L77, while VF Series II introduced the naturally aspirated 6.2L LS3.
HSV: Pacemaker's broader application includes applicable naturally aspirated 6.0L LS2 and 6.2L LS3 configurations. Supercharged LSA applications require the appropriate LSA-specific Pacemaker header.
PH5387 is not a 5.7L LS1 application and there is no 6.3L factory engine application in this range.
Pacemaker offers different header configurations for the VE/VF 6.0L and 6.2L V8 platform.
PH5387: Tri-Y design with 44mm (1¾") primaries, 48mm (1⅞") secondaries and 76mm (3") outlets.
PH5381: 4-into-1 competition design with 44mm (1¾") primaries and 76mm (3") outlets.
PH5382: 4-into-1 competition design with larger 48mm (1⅞") primaries and 76mm (3") outlets.
PH5387 provides the Tri-Y alternative to Pacemaker's PH5381 and PH5382 4-into-1 competition headers. Contact Best Mufflers if you require advice on selecting the most appropriate header configuration for your vehicle and engine modifications.
Aftermarket Catalytic Converters Required: Pacemaker specifies that PH5387 must be used with aftermarket catalytic converters.
2½" Catalytic Converters: Pacemaker lists CAT5380-100L/R for applications using a 2½" exhaust connection.
3" Catalytic Converters: Pacemaker lists CAT5387-100L/R for applications using a 3" exhaust connection.
Oxygen Sensor Extension: Pacemaker specifies PEX5367Z x 1 VZ oxygen sensor wiring loom extension.
LSA: PH5387 does not suit HSV vehicles fitted with the supercharged LSA engine.
Because many VE and VF V8 vehicles have already been modified, check the existing headers, catalytic converters, exhaust diameter, engine mounts and other aftermarket components before installation.
Outlet flange plates and gaskets are listed in the supplied PH5387 product information. Other gaskets, catalytic converters, header bolts and installation components should not be assumed to be included unless confirmed with the current kit before ordering.
DSF138 – replacement cylinder-head exhaust gaskets.
PEX5367Z x 1 – VZ oxygen sensor wiring loom extension required by Pacemaker.
CAT5380-100L/R – Pacemaker high-flow catalytic converters for a 2½" exhaust connection.
CAT5387-100L/R – Pacemaker high-flow catalytic converters for a 3" exhaust connection.
BOL02-10 – replacement header bolts where required.
Matching Pacemaker performance exhaust systems are available for selected VE and VF sedan, wagon and ute applications.
At 4,000 rpm, a 6.0L V8 theoretically draws approximately 12,000 litres of intake air per minute at 100% volumetric efficiency and expels around 36,000 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.
At the same engine speed, a 6.2L V8 theoretically draws approximately 12,400 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 37,200 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.
A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
Before installation, confirm the exact vehicle model, engine and existing exhaust configuration.
PH5387 requires aftermarket catalytic converters, so plan the complete header, catalytic converter and exhaust configuration before commencing installation.
Protect the header finish during trial fitting and ensure oxygen sensor wiring is routed safely away from the headers and other high-temperature components.
Professional installation is recommended.
Pacemaker headers are covered against manufacturing defects subject to Pacemaker's current warranty terms and conditions.
All catalytic converters, oxygen sensors and other emissions-control equipment required for the vehicle must remain correctly installed and operational.
Installation must comply with applicable Australian state or territory requirements relating to emissions, exhaust noise and vehicle modifications.
