Pacemaker CAT4018-100LR high-flow catalytic converters are designed for selected Ford Falcon BA, BF and FG models fitted with the 5.4L BOSS V8 and compatible Pacemaker performance headers.
Supplied as a left and right pair, CAT4018-100LR provides a direct-fit catalytic converter solution for Pacemaker PH4007, PH4008, PH4018 and PH4019 headers.
Each converter features a high-flow 100 CPI metallic substrate with 63mm (2.50") inlet and 63mm (2.50") outlet connections. The low-cell-density metallic substrate provides increased exhaust gas flow capacity for performance applications while retaining catalytic converter functionality.
Please check availability and current lead time before ordering.
CPI means Cells Per Square Inch and refers to the number of individual passages within a square inch of the catalytic converter substrate.
A 100 CPI metallic substrate has larger exhaust gas passages than a conventional higher-cell-density substrate, helping reduce exhaust restriction and increase exhaust gas flow capacity. This makes 100 CPI metallic catalytic converters particularly suitable for performance exhaust applications.
At 4,000 rpm, a 5.4L BOSS V8 theoretically draws in approximately 10,800 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 32,400 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.
A well-designed header, catalytic converter and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust flow, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
Catalytic converters are designed to operate within a specific temperature and air/fuel range. Engine misfires, excessively rich fuel mixtures, oil consumption, coolant entering the combustion chamber, poor-quality fuel and engine overheating can damage or prematurely destroy a catalytic converter.
If replacing a failed catalytic converter, the cause of the original failure should be diagnosed and rectified before the new converters are installed. Failure to correct the underlying engine problem can quickly damage the replacement catalytic converters.
Pacemaker catalytic converters are covered by the manufacturer's applicable warranty conditions.
Catalytic converter failure caused by an underlying engine, ignition, fuel, oil-consumption, overheating or contamination problem may not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
The completed exhaust system must retain the oxygen sensors and other emissions-control equipment required for the vehicle. Exhaust and emissions requirements vary between Australian states and territories, and the completed installation must comply with the regulations applicable in your state or territory.
Which Pacemaker headers do CAT4018-100LR catalytic converters fit?
CAT4018-100LR is designed for direct fitment with compatible Pacemaker PH4007, PH4008, PH4018 and PH4019 headers used on selected Ford Falcon BA, BF and FG 5.4L BOSS V8 applications.
Does CAT4018-100LR include both catalytic converters?
Yes. CAT4018-100LR is supplied as a pair consisting of CAT4018-100L left-hand and CAT4018-100R right-hand catalytic converters.
What size are the inlet and outlet connections?
Each catalytic converter uses a 63mm (2.50") inlet and 63mm (2.50") outlet.
What type of substrate is used?
CAT4018-100LR uses a high-flow 100 CPI metallic substrate designed to provide increased exhaust gas flow capacity for performance applications.
What does 100 CPI mean?
CPI means Cells Per Square Inch. A 100 CPI substrate has relatively large exhaust gas passages, helping reduce restriction compared with higher-cell-density converter designs.
Are CAT4018-100LR converters a direct replacement for the factory catalytic converters?
They are designed for direct fitment to the compatible Pacemaker header configuration. They should not be assumed to directly replace the original factory catalytic converters when the factory exhaust manifolds are retained.
Are gaskets included?
Yes. Exhaust connection gaskets are included with the catalytic converter assemblies.
Why do catalytic converters fail?
Premature catalytic converter failure can be caused by engine misfires, excessively rich fuel mixtures, oil burning, coolant contamination, overheating and other engine faults. The cause of the original failure should be diagnosed and corrected before replacement converters are installed.
Can I pick up from the store?
Yes. Pick up is available but must be pre-arranged before collection.
How much is freight?
Freight varies depending on your delivery location and where stock is available. Please contact us for freight charges before ordering. Where possible, we can arrange dispatch from the nearest available product location to help reduce freight costs and delivery times.
Do you ship to the USA?
Yes. Best Mufflers regularly ships exhaust systems and exhaust parts to customers throughout the United States.
Please note that import duties, tariffs, taxes, and customs clearance fees are not included in the product or shipping price. Once your order is processed and the applicable charges are calculated, we will send you a secure payment link to finalise the import duties and tariff charges before dispatch.
