Advance A342 headers (extractors) are listed for selected Mitsubishi L200 and L200 Express 2WD and 4WD models fitted with the 2.0L 4G52 or 2.6L 4G54 Astron four-cylinder petrol engine.
A342 features a heavy-duty press-bent interference design suited to standard and mildly modified street engines. The design provides a performance-oriented replacement for the original exhaust manifold to improve exhaust flow, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
IMPORTANT: Mitsubishi used several different petrol engines in the L200 range. A342 is the Astron-engine application. Confirm your engine code and vehicle configuration before ordering.
Bolts and gaskets included.
Please check availability and current lead time before ordering.
Advance A342 headers feature heavy-duty press-bent construction and an interference design developed for durable street, commercial and 4WD applications.
Press-bent headers use a traditional manufacturing method where the tubing reduces slightly through the bends. This construction has been widely used on Australian performance and commercial vehicle exhaust systems and provides a strong, durable header assembly.
Please contact Best Mufflers for current availability and advice regarding compatible exhaust components for your Mitsubishi L200 or L200 Express.
2.0L Application: Early Australian L200 Express models used the 2.0L 4G52 Astron. Australian application data identifies MA and MB L200 Express models with the 4G52, including both rear-wheel-drive and 4WD configurations.
2.6L Application: The 2.6L 4G54 Astron was used in later L200 applications. Because Mitsubishi changed engines and chassis configurations throughout L200 production, confirm the vehicle series, engine code and drivetrain before ordering.
Important: Do not select A342 simply because the vehicle has a 2.0L engine. Later L200 models were also fitted with the 2.0L 4G63, which is a different engine and should not be assumed to use this header.
A342 is an Astron-engine application. Confirm that the vehicle is fitted with the appropriate 4G52 2.0L or 4G54 2.6L engine before ordering.
Do not confuse the early 2.0L 4G52 Astron with later Mitsubishi L200 2.0L engines such as the 4G63. Although both are 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines, they are different engine families and have different exhaust manifold applications.
Because these vehicles are now several decades old, engine conversions and exhaust modifications are common. Check the engine identification and existing exhaust configuration before installation.
Please contact Best Mufflers if you require advice on compatible exhaust components or installation parts for your Mitsubishi L200.
The 2.0L 4G52 Astron engine theoretically draws approximately 4,000 litres of intake air per minute at 4,000 rpm at 100% volumetric efficiency. Using an illustrative hot exhaust volume at approximately 600°C, this represents around 12,000 litres of exhaust gas per minute.
The larger 2.6L 4G54 Astron theoretically draws approximately 5,200 litres of intake air per minute at 4,000 rpm, representing around 15,600 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute using the same illustrative calculation.
A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
Professional installation is recommended. Trial-fit the headers and check clearance around the steering, chassis, transmission, suspension and front drivetrain on 4WD models before completing the exhaust connection.
Lubricate threaded fasteners with WD-40 or a similar penetrating lubricant before removal to assist with easier removal and installation. After installation and several heat cycles, inspect the system for exhaust leaks and recheck accessible fasteners where appropriate.
Installation should comply with applicable Australian state or territory requirements relating to exhaust noise, emissions equipment where applicable, and vehicle modifications.
