Wildcat WILD009 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Ford Laser KF and KH models from 1994–1998 fitted with the 1.8L BP 16-valve DOHC petrol engine.

Featuring an interference-style header design, WILD009 uses 38mm (1.50") primary pipes, 45mm (1.75") secondary pipes and a 51mm (2.00") outlet. This combination is designed to improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging while maintaining good exhaust velocity, helping improve torque, throttle response and usable engine performance.

WILD009 replaces the factory exhaust manifold and extends down towards the existing exhaust system. Welding is required at the header outlet to connect the headers correctly to the downstream exhaust. Professional installation by an experienced exhaust workshop is recommended.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 1.8L BP petrol engine theoretically draws in approximately 3,600 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 10,800 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gasket before installing the headers
• Inspect the cylinder-head sealing surface, manifold studs and threads before installation
• Fit a new RBG009 exhaust manifold/header gasket
• Trial-fit and correctly position the headers before cutting or welding the downstream exhaust
• Fabricate and weld the exhaust connection only after correct header position and clearance have been confirmed
• Check clearance around the steering, suspension, transmission, starter motor and bodywork
• Protect the painted header surfaces during trial fitting and installation
• Check all exhaust connections for leaks after installation
• Inspect and re-tighten the header mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles
