Wildcat Exhaust Headers WILD163 are designed to suit Toyota Hilux YN55, YN57, YN58 2WD models (1983–1989) fitted with 1Y, 2Y, 3Y and 4Y engines. Built in Australia, these headers feature a proven interference design to improve exhaust flow, torque, and throttle response for street and light performance applications.
Engine Airflow Data (4000 rpm @ 85% VE):
• 2.0L (1Y/2Y): ~4,000 L/min intake → ~12,000 L/min exhaust
• 2.2L (3Y/4Y): ~4,400 L/min intake → ~13,200 L/min exhaust
The WILD163 Wildcat Headers are engineered specifically for early Toyota Hilux 2WD models, delivering improved exhaust scavenging and efficiency across the 1Y–4Y engine range. The interference design enhances mid-range torque and drivability, making it ideal for daily drivers, work utes, and light performance builds.
The Toyota 2.0L 1Y/2Y Engine draws in around 4000 L/min and produces approximately 12,000 L/min at 4000 rpm
The Toyota 2.0L 3Y/4Y Engine draws in around 4400 L/min and produces approximately 13,200 L/min at 4000 rpm
Information above is based on ~85% volumetric efficiency, with exhaust volume calculated at ~600°C).
The WILD163 headers interference design complements these airflow characteristics, helping reduce backpressure and improve exhaust scavenging for smoother torque delivery and enhanced throttle response. As exhaust gases expand significantly at operating temperature (~600°C), these headers are sized to efficiently manage increased exhaust volume, reducing backpressure and improving engine performance.
