Pacemaker PH4000 headers (extractors) are designed for Ford Falcon EB, ED, EF, EL and XH models fitted with the 5.0L EFI 302 Windsor V8. They also suit selected Ford Fairlane NC, NF and NL 5.0L EFI V8 applications.

PH4000 uses Pacemaker's Tri-Y design with 41mm (1⅝") primary pipes, 48mm (1⅞") secondary pipes and 57mm (2¼") flanged outlets. This configuration is designed to improve exhaust flow and scavenging while providing strong usable torque and throttle response for street-driven Windsor V8 applications.

IMPORTANT – Will not fit GT40 cylinder heads as fitted to the 302 Windsor AU II due to the different spark-plug angle.

Construction

Pacemaker PH4000 headers use mandrel-bent pipework and a vehicle-specific Tri-Y configuration developed for the Ford 5.0L EFI Windsor V8 application.

The standard headers are supplied in Pacemaker's distinctive protective blue finish. Ceramic coating is also available separately for improved heat management and corrosion resistance.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 5.0L 302 Windsor V8 theoretically draws approximately 10,000 litres of intake air per minute at 100% volumetric efficiency and expels around 30,000 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

Actual airflow varies with RPM, engine load, volumetric efficiency, intake restriction, camshaft specification and engine condition. These figures are theoretical values intended to illustrate the substantial volume of gas that must pass through the exhaust system at higher engine speeds.

A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
