Pacemaker PH4070 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Ford Falcon XR, XT, XW and XY models fitted with 302 or 351 Cleveland V8 engines using 2V cylinder heads.

Featuring a tuned-length performance design with 45mm primary pipes and 76mm flanged outlets, PH4070 is designed to improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging for better torque, throttle response and usable engine performance.

Important: PH4070 will fit FMX automatic applications but will not fit C6 automatic or column-change manual/automatic applications.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, a 302 Cleveland V8 (approximately 4.95L) theoretically draws in approximately 9,900 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 29,700 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

At the same engine speed, a 351 Cleveland V8 (approximately 5.75L) theoretically draws in approximately 11,500 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 34,500 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Apply penetrating lubricant to manifold bolts and exhaust fasteners before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gaskets and inspect the cylinder-head sealing surfaces
• Fit new DSF027 exhaust manifold/header gaskets
• Trial-fit both header assemblies before fully tightening the mounting hardware
• Protect the Pacemaker Blue or optional ceramic-coated surfaces during trial fitting and installation
• Pay particular attention to clearance around the right-hand-side gearbox crossmember
• Check clearance around the steering, starter motor, engine mounts, transmission, wiring and surrounding components
• Check the condition of the engine and transmission mounts, as worn mounts can alter drivetrain position and header clearance
• Check all exhaust connections for leaks after installation
• Inspect and re-tighten the header mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles
