Wildcat WILD088 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Holden Torana LH and LX models from 1974 to 1978 fitted with the 173ci or 202ci Holden Red Motor six-cylinder engine.

Manufactured in Australia, WILD088 features an interference-style header design for street performance applications. The combination of 1.50" primary pipes, 1.75" secondary pipes and a 2.00" outlet is designed to improve exhaust scavenging and exhaust gas flow to improve torque, throttle response and usable engine performance.

Important: WILD088 will not suit vehicles fitted with Powerglide or Hydramatic automatic transmissions.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 3.3L / 202ci Holden Red Motor draws in approximately 6,620 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 19,860 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Lubricate manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners with WD-40 or a similar penetrating lubricant before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gasket before installing the headers
• Inspect the cylinder-head sealing surface, manifold studs and threads before installation
• Fit a new DSF002 gasket and use high-temperature exhaust sealant where recommended
• Trial-fit the headers before fully tightening the fasteners
• Check clearance around the steering, transmission, starter motor and bodywork
• Protect the painted header surfaces during installation
• Re-tighten the header/manifold bolts after approximately 500km to help maintain a reliable gasket seal
