Wildcat WILD231 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Toyota Hilux RZN149, RZN154 and RZN169 2WD models fitted with the 2.7L 3RZ-FE petrol engine. They suit both manual and automatic transmission applications.

Featuring an interference-style extractor design, WILD231 replaces the restrictive factory exhaust manifold with larger, smoother-flowing pipework. The design helps improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging to reduce restriction and improve torque, throttle response and overall engine performance.

WILD231 is not a complete direct-fit installation. Adaptation to the existing exhaust system is required.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 2.7L 3RZ-FE engine draws in approximately 5,388 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 16,160 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal. Trial-fit the headers and check alignment with the existing exhaust system before completing the required exhaust adaptation. Professional exhaust installation is recommended. Protect the painted header surfaces during installation to minimise scratching or damage.
