Wildcat WILD185 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Toyota HiAce RZH103–RZH125 models from 08/1989–07/1998 fitted with the 2.4L 2RZ petrol engine.

WILD185 features a Tri-Y header design with mandrel-bent pipework, 38mm (1.50") primary pipes, 45mm (1.75") secondary pipes and a 51mm (2.00") slip outlet. The Tri-Y configuration is designed to maintain exhaust gas velocity and improve scavenging, making it particularly well suited to a HiAce where usable low- and mid-range torque is important.

The Wildcat application also lists WILD185 as suitable for the later 2RZ-E engine from 08/1998–07/2004; however, an oxygen-sensor mounting nut/bung must be welded into the header when fitting it to the 2RZ-E application.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, a 2.4L petrol engine theoretically draws in approximately 4,800 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 14,400 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gasket before installing the headers
• Inspect the cylinder-head sealing surface, manifold studs and threads before installation
• Fit a new RBG185 exhaust manifold/header gasket
• Trial-fit the headers before fully tightening the mounting hardware
• Check clearance around the engine mounts, steering, transmission and surrounding components
• For 2RZ-E applications from 08/1998–07/2004, correctly position and weld an oxygen-sensor mounting nut/bung into the header before final installation
• Ensure the oxygen sensor is positioned with adequate clearance from surrounding components and wiring
• Protect the painted header surfaces during trial fitting and installation
• Check all exhaust connections for leaks after installation
• Inspect and re-tighten the header mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles
