Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 1.8L 2ZZ-GE draws in approximately 3,600 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 10,800 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. At the 2ZZ-GE's much higher engine speeds, gas-flow requirements increase substantially, making efficient header and exhaust design particularly important for reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, throttle response and engine performance.
