Pacemaker PH12580 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Toyota Hilux and 4Runner 4WD models from 1982 to 2000 fitted with the 2L, 3L or 5L diesel engine.

Featuring an interference design with mandrel-bent 42mm primary pipes, 48mm secondary pipes and a 57mm outlet, PH12580 replaces the restrictive factory exhaust manifold with a performance header designed to improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging for better torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Important: PH12580 suits 4WD models only and will not fit LN167 models with wishbone front suspension.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, a 2.4L 2L diesel engine theoretically draws in approximately 4,800 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 14,400 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

At the same engine speed, a 2.8L 3L diesel engine theoretically draws in approximately 5,600 litres of intake air per minute and can expel around 16,800 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute, while a 3.0L 5L diesel engine theoretically draws in approximately 6,000 litres per minute and can expel around 18,000 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Apply penetrating lubricant to manifold fasteners and exhaust connections before removal
• Remove all traces of the original manifold gasket and inspect the cylinder-head sealing surface
• Fit a new DSF052 exhaust manifold/header gasket
• Trial-fit the header before fully tightening the mounting hardware
• Protect the Pacemaker Blue or optional ceramic-coated surfaces during trial fitting and installation
• Check clearance around the steering, engine mounts, starter motor, transmission, wiring and surrounding components
• Pay particular attention to the vehicle's front suspension configuration – PH12580 will not fit LN167 wishbone-front-end models
• Check all exhaust connections for leaks after installation
• Inspect and re-tighten the header mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles
