Featuring an interference-style extractor design, WILD254 replaces the restrictive factory exhaust manifold with larger, smoother-flowing pipework. The design helps improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging to reduce restriction and improve torque, throttle response and overall engine performance, making these headers well suited to everyday street applications and mild performance upgrades.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 1.6L QG16DE engine draws in approximately 3,194 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 9,580 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. The 1.8L QG18DE draws in approximately 3,538 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 10,610 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute. A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal. Inspect the existing manifold gasket, exhaust connection and mounting hardware before installation. Trial-fit the header and exhaust connection before fully tightening the system, and protect the painted surfaces during installation to minimise scratching or damage.
