Wildcat WILD098 headers (extractors) are designed for applicable Mitsubishi Sigma and Scorpion GE-GN rear-wheel-drive models fitted with the 2.0L 4G52 or 2.6L 4G54 SOHC 8-valve Astron petrol engine.
Featuring a Tri-Y header design, WILD098 provides a performance replacement for the original exhaust manifold and is designed to improve exhaust flow, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
The Wildcat application catalogue specifies approximately 41mm (1⅝") primary pipes, 44mm (1¾") secondary pipes and a 57mm (2¼") slip outlet.

Wildcat WILD098 headers are Australian Made and use a Tri-Y configuration designed around the Mitsubishi Astron 4G52 and 4G54 rear-wheel-drive engine applications.
The header configuration uses approximately 41mm (1⅝") primary pipes feeding into 44mm (1¾") secondary pipes with a 57mm (2¼") slip outlet.
A replacement header/manifold gasket is available separately – see RBG056S.
Please contact Best Mufflers if you require advice on fitment or the exhaust components required to complete the installation.
IMPORTANT: The 1977-1987 catalogue range covers multiple Sigma and Scorpion variants. WILD098 is specifically for the applicable 2.0L 4G52 and 2.6L 4G54 Astron engine applications. Confirm the engine before ordering.
4G52 & 4G54: WILD098 suits the applicable 2.0L 4G52 and 2.6L 4G54 SOHC 8-valve Astron petrol engines. It should not be ordered solely by the vehicle year because Sigma models were sold with several different engine families and capacities.
Rear-Wheel Drive: This application is for the longitudinal rear-wheel-drive 4G52/4G54 engine configuration used in the Sigma and Scorpion.
Transmission: The Wildcat catalogue lists WILD098 for both manual and automatic transmission applications.
Accessories: The Wildcat catalogue lists compatibility with air-conditioning and power steering.
Outlet: WILD098 has a 57mm (2¼") slip outlet. The downstream exhaust connection should be checked during installation and fabrication or adaptation may be required depending on the existing exhaust system.
Because these vehicles are now approximately 40-50 years old, engine conversions and modified exhaust systems are common. Confirm the engine code, cylinder head and existing exhaust configuration before ordering.
Gaskets, bolts and other installation components should not be assumed to be included unless specifically confirmed before ordering.
RBG056S – replacement header/manifold gasket.
Before installation, inspect the existing exhaust system, engine mounts, manifold studs and associated mounting hardware.
At 4,000 rpm, the 2.0L 4G52 engine theoretically draws approximately 4,000 litres of intake air per minute at 100% volumetric efficiency and expels around 12,000 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.
At the same engine speed, the 2.6L 4G54 engine theoretically draws approximately 5,200 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 15,600 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.
A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.
Before installation, confirm that the vehicle is fitted with the applicable 2.0L 4G52 or 2.6L 4G54 SOHC 8-valve Astron engine.
Because WILD098 uses a 57mm (2¼") slip outlet, check the existing downstream exhaust diameter and configuration before installation. Exhaust adaptation may be required depending on the vehicle's current exhaust system.
Lubricate threaded fasteners with WD-40 or a similar penetrating lubricant before removal to assist with easier removal and installation.
Professional installation is recommended. After installation and several heat cycles, inspect the exhaust system for leaks and recheck accessible fasteners where appropriate.
Any emissions-control equipment required for the particular vehicle must remain correctly installed and operational.
Installation must comply with applicable Australian state or territory requirements relating to emissions, exhaust noise and vehicle modifications.
