Fitment Notes

Exhaust Fabrication Required: The Wildcat application catalogue specifically states that an S-bend must be fabricated to match the headers to the existing exhaust system. Allow for exhaust fabrication during installation.

4G54 Engine: WILD098 is designed for the 2.6L 4G54 SOHC 8-valve naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Transmission: WILD098 is listed for both manual and automatic transmission models.

Accessories: The application catalogue lists compatibility with air-conditioning and power steering.

Because these vehicles are now more than 35 years old, engines and exhaust systems may have been replaced or modified. Confirm the engine and existing exhaust configuration before ordering.

What's Included

  • 1 x Wildcat WILD098 header/extractor assembly

The fabricated S-bend, gasket, bolts and other installation components should not be assumed to be included unless specifically confirmed before ordering.

Recommended With

RBG056S – replacement header/manifold gasket.

Professional exhaust fabrication is required to manufacture the S-bend connecting the WILD098 outlet to the existing exhaust system.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 2.6L 4G54 four-cylinder engine theoretically draws approximately 5,200 litres of intake air per minute at 100% volumetric efficiency and expels around 15,600 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

Before installation, confirm that the Pajero is an NE, NF or NG 4WD fitted with the 2.6L 4G54 petrol engine.

WILD098 requires an S-bend to be fabricated to connect the header outlet to the existing exhaust system. Professional installation by an exhaust specialist is recommended.

Lubricate threaded fasteners with WD-40 or a similar penetrating lubricant before removal to assist with easier removal and installation.

After installation and several heat cycles, inspect the complete exhaust system for leaks and recheck accessible fasteners where appropriate.

Warranty & Compliance

Any emissions-control equipment required for the particular vehicle must remain correctly installed and operational.

Installation must comply with applicable Australian state or territory requirements relating to emissions, exhaust noise and vehicle modifications.
