Wildcat WILD124 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Mitsubishi Triton models from 1996–2004 fitted with the 3.0L 6G72 SOHC 24-valve V6 petrol engine.

Featuring an interference-style header design for street performance applications, WILD124 uses 1 5/8" primary pipes, 2" secondary pipes and 2 1/4" outlets. The larger performance pipework is designed to improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging, helping improve torque, throttle response and usable engine performance.

Welding is required during installation to connect the headers to the vehicle's exhaust system, so professional installation is recommended.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 3.0L 6G72 V6 draws in approximately 6,000 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 18,000 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gaskets before installation
• Inspect the cylinder-head sealing surfaces, studs and threads before fitting the headers
• Fit new DSF158 exhaust manifold/header gaskets
• Trial-fit both headers and check clearance before final tightening
• Protect the painted header surfaces during installation
• Welding and exhaust fabrication are required to complete the connection to the exhaust system
• Check clearance around the steering, transmission, starter motor, chassis and surrounding components
• Inspect and re-tighten the mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles
