Hurricane HU263STM exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for applicable Mazda 323, Astina & Protege BA / BG models fitted with the 1.6L B6 SOHC engine from 1990 to 1996.
Manufactured in Australia, the HU263STM uses a tuned 4-into-1 design with 38mm (1½") mandrel-bent primary pipes feeding into a 51mm (2") outlet. The design improves exhaust gas flow and scavenging compared with the restrictive factory exhaust manifold, helping improve throttle response and overall engine breathing.
HU263STM is suitable for applicable manual and automatic transmission vehicles and includes fittings for the oxygen sensor and EGR system. The header is designed to adapt to the vehicle's existing exhaust flex bellow.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter
At 4,000 rpm, the 1.6L B6 engine moves approximately 2,720 litres of intake air per minute based on approximately 85% volumetric efficiency. Once heated to approximately 600°C, the exhaust gas occupies substantially more volume as it travels through the headers and exhaust system.
At 5,000 rpm, intake airflow increases to approximately 3,400 litres per minute, placing greater flow demand on the exhaust manifold, catalytic converter and exhaust system.
