Wildcat WILD230 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Ford Laser KN and KQ models fitted with the 1.8L FP-DE DOHC 16-valve petrol engine from 1998 to 2002.

Featuring an interference-style extractor design, WILD230 replaces the restrictive factory exhaust manifold with larger, smoother-flowing pipework. The design helps improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging to reduce restriction and improve torque, throttle response and overall engine performance for everyday street applications.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 1.8L FP-DE engine draws in approximately 3,678 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 11,030 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal. Inspect the existing manifold gasket, exhaust connection and mounting hardware before installation. Trial-fit the header and exhaust connection before fully tightening the system, and protect the painted surfaces during installation to minimise scratching or damage.
