Wildcat WILD092 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Mazda RX-4, RX-5 and RX-7 models from 1973–1985 fitted with the 13B rotary petrol engine.

Featuring a tuned-length design with large 51mm (2.00") primary pipes and twin outlets, WILD092 is designed to replace the restrictive factory exhaust manifold and improve exhaust gas evacuation from the 13B rotary engine.

The large-diameter header design is suited to the substantial exhaust gas flow produced by a rotary engine and is designed to improve exhaust flow, throttle response and engine performance when combined with a suitable exhaust system.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

The Mazda 13B rotary engine has very different intake and exhaust characteristics from a conventional four-stroke piston engine, producing strong, closely spaced exhaust pulses and very high exhaust gas temperatures. A properly designed tuned-length header and exhaust system helps evacuate these gases efficiently, reducing exhaust restriction and improving exhaust flow, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Apply penetrating lubricant such as WD-40 or similar to the manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gasket before installation
• Inspect the exhaust-port sealing surfaces, studs and threads before fitting the headers
• Install a new GMG093 gasket
• Trial-fit the header before fully tightening the mounting hardware
• Check clearance around the engine, steering, transmission, chassis and surrounding components
• Protect the painted surfaces during installation
• Inspect and re-tighten the mounting hardware after the initial heat cycles
