Why This Payment Is Required

As of August 29, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) requires that all postal shipments have import duties and tariffs prepaid before shipment. This change follows the suspension of the previous "de minimis" duty-free exemption for low-value imports.

Best Mufflers uses the Zonos platform (in partnership with Australia Post) to calculate and collect these duties prior to dispatch. Once paid, your parcel will clear U.S. Customs without any further fees or delays.

Typical Duty Rates

• Automotive exhaust parts (steel or stainless steel) are generally subject to the following U.S. import charges:
  • 10% Section 232 U.S. Steel Tariff – applied to steel and stainless automotive components.
  • ~2.5% Base Import Duty – the standard rate for vehicle parts (HS code 8708.92).
• This results in a combined rate of 12.5% of the declared item value.
• These duties are calculated and prepaid through Zonos (in partnership with Australia Post) to ensure your parcel clears U.S. Customs without delays or additional fees on delivery.

How It Works

• This product will appear as a separate payment item for the exact amount of duties owed.
• Once this payment is received, your order will be released for shipment to the United States.
