Wildcat WILD089 exhaust headers (extractors) are designed for selected Holden Torana LH and LX models fitted with the 253ci (4.2L) or 308ci (5.0L) Holden V8 engine.

Manufactured in Australia, WILD089 features an interference-style header design for street performance applications. The combination of 38mm primary pipes, 44mm secondary pipes and 57mm outlets is designed to improve exhaust gas flow and scavenging, helping improve torque, throttle response and usable engine performance.

Important: WILD089 will not fit vehicles equipped with Turbo 350, Turbo 400 or Top Loader transmissions.

Why Good Headers & Exhaust Systems Matter

At 4,000 rpm, the 253ci (4.2L) Holden V8 draws in approximately 8,290 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 24,870 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C.

At 4,000 rpm, the 308ci (5.0L) Holden V8 draws in approximately 10,090 litres of intake air per minute and expels around 30,270 litres of hot exhaust gas per minute at approximately 600°C. A well-designed header and exhaust system helps manage this high gas flow efficiently, reducing restriction and improving exhaust scavenging, torque, throttle response and engine performance.

Installation Tips

• Lubricate manifold studs, nuts and exhaust fasteners with WD-40 or a similar penetrating lubricant before removal
• Remove all traces of the old manifold gaskets before installing the headers
• Inspect the cylinder-head sealing surfaces, manifold studs and threads before installation
• Fit new DSF9A header gaskets
• Trial-fit both headers before fully tightening the fasteners
• Check clearance around the steering, transmission, starter motor and bodywork
• Protect the painted header surfaces during installation
• Re-tighten the header/manifold bolts after approximately 500km to help maintain a reliable gasket seal
