Pacemaker CAT4018-100LR high-flow catalytic converters are designed for Ford Falcon BA and BF models fitted with the 5.4L Boss V8 when using Pacemaker PH4008 or PH4018 headers. Supplied as a left and right pair, these direct-fit catalytic converters provide the correct connection between the Pacemaker headers and exhaust system.
Each converter features a high-flow 100 CPI metallic substrate with 3.0" (76mm) inlet and 2.50" outlet . The low-cell-density metallic design provides increased exhaust gas flow capacity for performance applications while retaining catalytic converter functionality.
CPI means Cells Per Square Inch and refers to the density of the catalytic converter substrate. A 100 CPI metallic substrate has larger gas passages than a conventional higher-cell-density substrate, helping reduce exhaust restriction and increase exhaust flow capacity. This makes 100 CPI metallic converters particularly suitable for performance exhaust applications.
Catalytic converters are designed to operate within a specific temperature and air/fuel range. Engine misfires, excessively rich fuel mixtures, oil consumption, coolant entering the combustion chamber, poor-quality fuel and engine overheating can damage or prematurely destroy a catalytic converter. If replacing a failed converter, the cause of the original failure should be diagnosed and rectified before the new catalytic converters are installed.
